This is a rare production of a story created by Albert Camus. In 1948 Jean-Louis Barrault staged this work that tells the story of how one man’s response to a comet prompted the government to unequivocally silence the resulting pandemonium by demanding they deny ever having seen the comet. Their silence is a direct result of an order from a dictatorial leader called “La Peste” (The Plague.) Paris theatre group Théatre de la Ville returns to UCLA’s Royce Hall for two performances of L’État de siège on October 26 and 27th.
