The lyrics go: “Do you believe in magic, in a young girl’s heart?” It occurs to me that perhaps the words John Sebastian came up with for the Lovin’ Spoonful hit song could have been inspired by the 1947 classic film Miracle on 34th Street.
They probably weren’t, but they could have been.
Nonetheless, the heart-warming story of a man claiming to actually be Santa Claus and a young girl’s love for Kris Kringle is being presented at the Pasadena Playhouse. But this isn’t a fully-staged production. Rather, they have taken the Lux Radio Hour radio script and will be doing an enhanced radio play version. Alfred Molina stars as Kris Kringle. Peri Gilpin, Beth Grant and more are part of the cast. Director Cameron Watson promises a few additions to make this a holiday event the whole family will enjoy.
