Billy Stritch is widely known as Liza Minnelli’s music director. But he’s a wildly entertaining singer and performer in his own right as this show on Wednesday night Upstairs at Vitello’s will prove.

Stritch is actually going to be Upstair’s at Vitello’s for two nights as he will also be part of Jim Caruso’s Cast Party the following night.

In addition to his work with Liza, he regularly accompanies Tony Bennett, Linda Lavin, Christine Ebersole and Marilyn Maye.

In my 2014 interview with Stritch, he told how much he loves show business.  “What’s fun about show biz is being a fan and being in on it and meeting people you’ve been a fan of. The icing on the cake is when they turn out to be nice people.  Everybody loves show biz for the same reasons.  It’s so gratifying to me, I have people I’ve long been admirers of and they are my fans.  I have to pinch myself.  Everybody is a fan.  Everybody supports each other.  It’s a lovely circle.”

Since Stritch is a big fan of the American Songbook, I’d expect you’ll hear a good number of selections from that catalog.
