When you have received the Presidential Medal of Freedom, an Emmy Award and 4 Grammy Awards (amongst 10 nominations), you must be doing something right. And when Clint Eastwood asks you to score one of his films (a task he normally assumes himself), you’re also doing something right. So what better way to celebrate than with three performances of your music. That’s exactly what musician Arturo Sandoval will be doing this week at Catalina Jazz Club on Friday and Saturday night.

Arturo Sandoval is a Cuban-born trumpeter, pianist and composer. He skillfully blends his Cuban background with jazz and classical music to be one of the most important musicians of our time.

The film he scored for Clint Eastwood is the surprise hit, The Mule. And amongst his 10 Grammy Awards are such recordings as Dear Diz (Every Day I Think of You) from 2012, 1998’s Hot House and 1994’s Danzon.

Last year he released two albums:  Ultimate Duets (which included a very popular track with Pharrell Williams and Ariana Grande) and Christmas at Notre Dame.

Of course this makes us wonder with friends like that, who will the LA All-Stars be?
