Playwright Joshua Harmon has had two plays produced at the Geffen Playhouse: Bad Jews in 2015 and Significant Other last year. He returns with Skintight which is now playing  and continues at the Geffen Playhouse through October 12th.

Idina Menzel

Skintight arrives in Los Angeles with its Tony Award-winning star, Idina Menzel (Wicked), in tow. She is joined by Eli Gelb and Will Brittain who also appeared in the New York production. The rest of the ensemble includes Harry Groener, Kimberly Jürgen and Jeff Skowron. Daniel Aukin, who directed the show at the Laura Pels Theatre in New York, returns as director.

Menzel plays Jodi Isaac, a woman struggling to navigate life after her ex-husband sets out to marry a significantly younger woman. She attempts to find temporary refuge in her father’s (Groener) house. There she finds he’s taken up with a new 20-year-old boyfriend (Brittain). Harmon uses this set-up to explore family dynamics and the challenges of getting older in a world so obsessed with youth and staying young and/or relevant.

Skintight has been extended to October 12th.
