In their continuing series of play readings in support of The Actors Fund, Broadway’s Best Shows has assembled the original Broadway cast of Joshua Harmon’s Significant Other to hold a live reading of the play. This live stream will be available on Thursday, May 14th at 8 PM EDT/5 PM PDT on The Actors Fund YouTube Channel plus Broadway’s Best Shows YouTube Channel and Facebook Page.
Gideon Glick stars as Jordan who watches as all his close female friends one-by-one find love and marriage. He is frustrated that he doesn’t have the same luck finding “Mr. Right.” He’s always the bridesmaid…so to speak.
Glick was Tony-nominated for his performance in To Kill a Mockingbird. He made his Broadway debut in the original production of Spring Awakening.
The other members of the cast include John Behlmann (Tootsie), Sas Goldberg, Rebecca Naomi Jones (Tony nominee for the recent revival of Oklahoma!), Lindsay Mendez (Tony winner for Carousel), Luke Smith and Barbara Barrie (the original cast of Company and an Oscar-nominee for Breaking Away.)
Trip Cullman directed the original production which played at the Booth Theatre in New York in 2017. He’s been with the show since its debut in 2015 at the Laura Pels Theatre. This marked his debut on Broadway and was playwright Harmon’s as well.
These live readings are only available at the performance time. Each reading (last week’s November was the first in Broadway’s Best Shows’ Spotlight on Plays series) is free, but donations to The Actors Fund are encouraged. All money raised goes to the organization’s Covid-19 Emergency Assistance.
Next week finds Bryan Cranston and Sally Field reading A.R. Gurney’s Love Letters.
