Tony Award winner Kelli O’Hara (the 2015 revival of The King and I) headlines a virtual benefit concert for The New York Pops on October 27th at 7:30 PM EDT/4:30 PM PDT.
The concert was filmed on September 12th at the Riverside Yacht Club in Connecticut. The program includes songs from the many shows in which O’Hara has appeared on Broadway, classics from the Great American Songbook and some original songs she wrote with her husband, Greg Naughton.
O’Hara’s Broadway credits include The Light in the Piazza, the 2006 revival of The Pajama Game, the 2008 revival of South Pacific, Nice Work If You Can Get It, The Bridges of Madison County and the 2019 revival of Kiss Me, Kate. O’Hara received Tony Award nominations for all those performances.
If you’ve read any of our previews of the operas made available by the Metropolitan Opera you’ll know she’s appeared in two productions there: The Merry Widow and Cosí fan tutte.
She is also a Board Member with the New York Pops.
Joining O’Hara for this concert will be Dan Lipton who serves as her Music Director and accompanist.
I’ve been very fortunate in that I’ve seen O’Hara in most of her Tony nominated roles and in several other musicals and concerts. She’s stunningly talented. I strongly recommend watching this concert.
You will have access to the concert and a post-show Q&A with New York Pops Music Director Steven Reineke for 48 hours after its initial stream has been concluded. The full program runs 65 minutes.
Tickets range from $20 to $500 and can be purchased here.
