This celebration of works new and old from Mexico City starts Monday at Walt Disney Concert Hall and continues through October 17th. The series begins with Antonio Sánchez performing his all-percussion score from the Oscar-winning best film Birdman.
The series features rock, folk, film music and classical music. Other performers participating in CDMX include Café Tacvba, Mexrrissey and Natalie Lafourcade. My personal pick as the highlight of this series happens on October 17th with the world premiere of five new works all commissioned by the LA Phil.
The LA Philharmonic is donating a portion of the proceeds from these concerts to UNICEF to help with recovery from the devastating earthquakes that recently occurred in Mexico.
