She compiled a bunch of the essays from that time and published a book called <i>Tiny Beautiful Things: Advice on Love and Life from Dear Sugar</i>. The book became a bestseller. Nia Vardalos, best known for writing and starring in <em>My Big Fat Greek Wedding</em>, has adapted the book into the play <a href="https://www.pasadenaplayhouse.org/event/tiny-beautiful-things/" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><em>Tiny Beautiful Things</em></a>. The show just opened at the Pasadena Playhouse and will run there through May 5th.</p> <p>Vardalos reprises her role in this play which had its premiere at the Public Theatre in New York. The project was co-concieved by Marshall Heyman, Thomas Kail along with Vardalos. If Kail’s name seems familiar, he directed <em>Hamilton</em>.</p> <figure id="attachment_5227" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-5227" style="width: 300px" class="wp-caption alignleft"><img fetchpriority="high" decoding="async" class="size-medium wp-image-5227" src="https://culturalattache.co/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/Giovanni-Adams-Nia-Vardalos-and-Natalie-Woolams-Torres-in-Tiny-Beautiful-Things.-Photo-by-Jenny-Graham-300x169.jpg" alt="" width="300" height="169" srcset="https://culturalattache.co/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/Giovanni-Adams-Nia-Vardalos-and-Natalie-Woolams-Torres-in-Tiny-Beautiful-Things.-Photo-by-Jenny-Graham-300x169.jpg 300w, https://culturalattache.co/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/Giovanni-Adams-Nia-Vardalos-and-Natalie-Woolams-Torres-in-Tiny-Beautiful-Things.-Photo-by-Jenny-Graham-768x432.jpg 768w, https://culturalattache.co/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/Giovanni-Adams-Nia-Vardalos-and-Natalie-Woolams-Torres-in-Tiny-Beautiful-Things.-Photo-by-Jenny-Graham-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https://culturalattache.co/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/Giovanni-Adams-Nia-Vardalos-and-Natalie-Woolams-Torres-in-Tiny-Beautiful-Things.-Photo-by-Jenny-Graham-696x392.jpg 696w, https://culturalattache.co/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/Giovanni-Adams-Nia-Vardalos-and-Natalie-Woolams-Torres-in-Tiny-Beautiful-Things.-Photo-by-Jenny-Graham-1068x601.jpg 1068w, https://culturalattache.co/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/Giovanni-Adams-Nia-Vardalos-and-Natalie-Woolams-Torres-in-Tiny-Beautiful-Things.-Photo-by-Jenny-Graham-747x420.jpg 747w, https://culturalattache.co/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/Giovanni-Adams-Nia-Vardalos-and-Natalie-Woolams-Torres-in-Tiny-Beautiful-Things.-Photo-by-Jenny-Graham.jpg 1920w" sizes="(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px" /><figcaption id="caption-attachment-5227" class="wp-caption-text">Giovanni Adams, Nia Vardalos and Natalie Woolams-Torres in “Tiny Beautiful Things” (Photo by Jenny Graham)</figcaption></figure> <p>Of course, Vardalos plays Sugar.
