How’s this for an intriguing premise? The first act of An Evening of Betrayal is a full performance of Harold Pinter’s Betrayal. The play is told in reverse and begins with the break-up of a relationship and ends with the two people being introduced to each other. The second act is an abridged telling of Shakespeare’s Othello using the same concept of going backwards in time. An Evening of Betrayal is now playing at Theatre 68 in North Hollywood.

Liza Seneca is the mastermind behind this approach to watching Othello kill Desdemona and then himself and going backwards in the same manner Pinter uses in Betrayal. She appears in the production (Emma in Betrayal/Desdemona & Bianca in Othello) along with William DeMeritt (Robert in Betrayal/Othello in Othello), Luke McClure (Waiter in Betrayal/Cassio & Emilia in Othello) and Adam J. Smith (Jerry in Betrayal/Iago in Othello.) Elizabeth Swain directs.
