I never saw Nancy Wilson perform live. I had the chance on several occasions, but for some stupid reason I never got around to it. That’s my loss. As you know, Ms. Wilson, one of the finest jazz singers of all time, passed away yesterday at the age of 81.

It is perhaps understandable that the Twitterverse thought that one of the women from the rock band Heart had passed away. Though this Nancy Wilson was celebrated around the world for her singing, she wasn’t a household name. And since she gave up touring in 2011, it isn’t as if she had been on the public’s mind for the past.

But those who knew who she was knew, even more importantly, how insanely talented she was. If you fall into that category, you’ll appreciate the following clips. If you don’t, you’re in for a treat.

Guess Who I Saw Today (with quite the introduction!):

And finally, her amazing duet with Peabo Bryson on the song “Loving You” from Stephen Sondheim’s musical, Passion.

Thank you Nancy Wilson for the great music. Rest In Peace.
