When we spoke with composer Laura Karpman in February of this year, she bemoaned the limited opportunities for women composers in film saying “We don’t get on top projects.” One way for opportunities to arise is to make the community much more aware of women who are writing music for film and television and this concert goes a long way towards providing exposure and recognition for those women. The Future Is Female is an evening of music performed by the Hollywood Chamber Orchestra. The concert is Tuesday night at the Wiltern Theatre and is presented by KCRW.

The women whose work is being highlighted includes Germaine Franco (TAG), Tamar-kali (Mudbound), Ronit Kirchman (The Sinner), Cindy O’Connor (Once Upon A Time), Heather McIntosh (Compliance), Mandy Hoffman, Tori Letzler, Emily Rice, Perrine Virgile-Piekarski, ASKA, Tangelene Bolton and Jessie Weiss.
